The Cadillac XLR was based on the Corvette, but got a different setup for its suspension and it got a metal folding roof. Since the new Corvette has been unveiled, I wanted to make a Cadillac XLR based on the C7 Corvette. This photoshop rendering has been on my computer for a long time and never finished it, until today.
The second rendering of a facelifted Japanese midi-SUV for this week. This time it is the Mazda CX-5.
The Mazda CX-5 is still a big seller for Mazda and a popular choice in this segment, therefore the mid-cycle facelift is kept to a minimum. The new headlights and taillights are in the same styling as the new Mazda 2 with the led rings in the lights. Also the grille has a new design. At last, the mirrors are getting a update too. The turn signal is now placed on the front of the mirror cap, instead of the side of the mirror.
The Mercedes-Benz B-class is already a few years on the market and is, after the release of the new A-class the only compact MPV which Mercedes-Benz offers. The new B-class facelift will be unveiled at the Parisian Motorshow.
The front and taillights will get the new Mercedes-Benz lights with the LEDs, however this will only be fitted on the most expensive models and the lower spec cars will get other lights, which have the same styling as those of the basic C-class and E-class models. Also, the front and rear will include a redesigned bumper. The grille will have a new styling/shape – more in line with the current line of design at Mercedes-Benz. The engines will also be updated.
The CR-V is a popular crossover for Honda, especially in North America. The mid-life upgrade of the 4th generation will be expected to be released in the end of 2014, three years after the current model was launched.
The new CR-V will get a new front with the grille of the Civic and new Fit and a slightly different bumper. Whereas the rear will get a new bumper and some revised taillamps. The new cool lane watch cameras will be on the option sheet of the new CR-V
Bentley is adding more and more models to their lineup, for instance the new SUV. However now is Bentley considering a model beneath the Continental GT too. This four-door coupe model should compete against the Audi S7/RS7, BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz CLS65 AMG. I also have made a rendering of this model a year ago (click). Do you have a good name for this smaller Bentley?
The question is which platform this new model will ride on? There are two possibilities: the D5 architecture of the next Audi A8 or the MSB platform, which will underpin the next-generation Panamera. There will be a variety of engines like the 3.0-liter V6 and a 4.0-liter V8 and maybe a hybrid too. The rumours say that it will arrive in 2018.
The Acura TLX is based on the Accord platform and is a competitor of the Audi A4, BMW 3 series and Mercedes C-class. It would be a great addition to the lineup to have a coupe version of the TLX, because you can get a coupe of its competition: Audi A5, BMW 4 series, Infiniti G60 etc. Also, Acura had a mid-size coupe between 1997 and 2003.
Because it is based on the Accord, which has already a coupe version, it would not be a really big problem to make a coupe version of it.
I have a soft spot for Smart, because I own a Smart myself. It is not the Fortwo or a Brabus, but still it is still a cool car. Especially the Brabus versions of the Fortwo, because they are small but really quick.
Audi has already the Audi S8, but Mercedes has two sporty versions of their S-class: The S63 AMG and S65 AMG. So why has Audi not an RS8
The V10 of the S8 could produce more bhp as you can see it with the Audi R8 V10 plus.
The new Audi R8 will share its platform with the Lamborghini Huracan and it would weigh around the same as the current Audi R8. The idea stays the same with a mid engined sports car with quattro four wheel drive. This new sports car of Audi will probably feature a twin turbo V8 turbo, a naturally aspirated V10, a plug-in hybrid and a diesel.
The new Mercedes-Benz C-class will also feature a Coupe, which I already have made a rendering of. Now I have made the AMG version of it.
The grille, bumpers, tailpipes and sideskirts are changed. Since it will get a smaller engine, rumours say it’s a 4 liter V8, the chance is there that the new model will get another name. Will it be the C55 AMG or will it still get that historic C63 AMG name?
